Client:
National Waste Management Agency (ANGED)
Project Description:
As part of the national program for the recovery of household and similar waste, ICP Environmental Consulting is supporting ANGED in the design and implementation of an innovative treatment unit in Sfax. This project is part of the national drive to modernize waste management and strengthen the circular economy at the local and regional levels.
A strategic project for the Sfax region
Sfax, the country’s second largest economic hub, generates a significant amount of household and similar waste (HSW). The creation of this recovery unit aims to reduce pressure on existing landfills, promote the recovery and recycling of materials, and minimize the environmental impacts associated with traditional waste management.
The missions entrusted to ICP Environmental Consulting
To ensure the project’s success, our teams are involved at various levels:
• Updating the Preliminary Environmental Assessment (PEA) to take into account new local data;
• Developing a technical and economic feasibility study, incorporating appropriate treatment scenarios and a cost-benefit assessment;
• Conducting the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to anticipate and limit potential negative effects on the ecosystem and populations;
• Organizing a wastewater treatment plant characterization day covering the Sfax South and Sfax North areas, allowing for a better analysis of the nature and composition of the waste produced;
• Preparing the tender documents (RPQ and DAO), providing support during the tendering phase, and organizing an information day for stakeholders to ensure transparency and buy-in.
A step towards sustainable waste management
This project marks a key step in the modernization of Tunisia’s waste management system. It will not only reduce the volume sent to landfills, but also create new economic opportunities in the recycling and recovery sectors.
By relying on a participatory approach and solutions adapted to local realities, ICP Environmental Consulting is helping to make Sfax a model for sustainable waste management, aligned with national and international ecological transition objectives.
