Project Description:
The IDEMA Program is an initiative carried out with financial support from the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It will be implemented with the support, in Tunisia, of the International Development Center for Innovative Local Governance (CILG-VNG International).
This program is structured around three strategic components, which ultimately aim to strengthen the central and local stakeholders involved in leading and implementing the decentralization process and ensuring its sustainability. These are:
Support to the Ministry of Local Affairs and the Environment and the Ministry of Equipment, Housing, and Regional Planning to strengthen their capacities to lead the decentralization process, unite the various stakeholders for its success, and implement the strategies and reforms necessary for its operationalization.
Technical assistance to target municipalities to promote their economic development, improve the quality of their services, and support them in understanding and implementing their new skills. IDEMA operates in 12 municipalities located in the outskirts of Greater Tunis (Douar Hicher and Raoued), the Northwest (Ain Draham, Béja, Krib, Thibar), the Center-West (Bir Lahfay and Hessi Ferid), and the South (Ben Guerdane, Dehiba, Boughrara, and Jemna).
Promoting citizen participation in the development of planning and land management documents, aimed at better integrating youth, women, and the general public.
This mission involves assisting the municipality of Ben Guerdane in preparing a technical file for a waste management project.
